چکیده
Abstract Objective Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is one of the standard treatments for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but local recurrence main cause treatment failure. The changes in apoptosis and autophagy recurrent tumors patients with ESCC following dCRT have been poorly estimated. Thus, this study aimed to investigate expressions key regulators matched paired samples primary ESCC. Methods medical records locally advanced who developed after were reviewed, expression profiling apoptosis-related genes, apoptosis, autophagy-related proteins detected normal epithelium Results A total 126 enrolled, 52.4% them had stage III disease. 1-, 3- 5-year recurrence-free survival (LRFS) rates 54.8, 19.8 14.3%, respectively, a median LRFS 13.0 months. Patients T2 tumor or II disease showed significantly prolonged compared that T3-4 Apoptotic Machinery genes identified 5 upregulated 7 downregulated their levels tumors. High CD40, TRAF4 BCL2A1, low CARD6 TNFRSF21 associated increased risk early dCRT. No differences apoptotic index between detected. However, typical morphological features autophagosomes elevated LC3-II protein samples, positive was correlated recurrence. Conclusion Our findings indicated dysfunction receiving Further studies are necessary understand biology cancer.

Role of Brg1 in progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Objective(s): Epigenetic regulation of gene expression can be carried out through chromatin remodeling enzymes such as SWI/SNF. Brg1 also known as SMARCA4 is a catalytic subunit of SWI/SNF, which is necessary for MMPs expression. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are known as important player enzymes during tumor progression and metastasis. Aberrant epigenetic modification of chromatin should be...
متن کاملTELOMERASEACTIVITYIN IRANIAN PATIENTS WITH ESOPHAGEAL SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
Telomerase activation is one of the main pathways to immortalize cancer cells. In many kinds of cancer cells, this special reverse transcriptase stabilizes and elongates telomeres and prevents telomere erosion that naturally occurs in every cell division. Esophageal cancer is the fifth most frequent cause of cancer death worldwide, and is highly associated with alcohol, smoking, cultural ha...
متن کاملExpression analysis of CD44 isoforms S and V3, in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Objective(s): CD44 is a member of the cell adhesion molecules family. Naturally, CD44S, along with CD44V3 influence the cell motility, migration, and adhesion, while in tumor cells they lead to tumor invasion, progression, and metastasis. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the CD44S and CD44V3 expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC) and to reveal their correlations wit...
متن کاملPrevalence of Nucleotide Alterations of EGFR Gene in Patients with Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Kerman
Background & Aims: Esophageal Cancer is the sixth fatal cancer in the world. Squamous and adenocarcinoma account for 95% of esophageal cancer. The expression of EGFR has a role in the pathophysiology of epidermal-based malignancies such as esophageal cancer. EGFR is also an important criterion in the evaluation of disease staging and prognosis. The aim of this study was to survey the prevalence...
متن کاملInhibition of autophagy by 3-MA potentiates cisplatin-induced apoptosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cells.
Cisplatin (DDP)-based adjuvant chemotherapy is widely used for the treatment of esophageal cancer. However, DDP resistance has become more common and thus new approaches are required to be explored. Cisplatin was used to induce autophagy in the human esophageal cancer cell line, EC9706 cells, and the effect of autophagy on the survival of EC9706 cells was investigated using an autophagy inhibit...
